Cheese Sauce Ingredients:
- Cheese - To give this Cheese Sauce a little extra kick, I like to use a combination of tasty and parmesan cheese, but you can really use whatever cheese you have in the fridge.
- Milk - Either full cream or skim milk can be used for this recipe.
- Pepper - To avoid 'black flecks' in your Cheese Sauce, use ground white pepper instead of cracked black pepper.

How to Make Cheese Sauce in a Thermomix:
Making your own Cheese Sauce in a Thermomix really is easy!
- Grate the cheeses.
- Add the remaining ingredients and cook for 7 minutes!

Tips for Making Cheese Sauce in a Thermommix:
- You can use just Tasty (Cheddar) Cheese for this recipe if you don't have any parmesan cheese.
- This Cheese Sauce can be frozen, however I would recommend using it within 24 hours of making for best results.
Yes, this Cheese Sauce can be made a 2-3 days in advance, store covered in the fridge until needed.
I prefer to use a mixture of tasty (cheddar) and parmesan cheese when making cheese sauce as this combination helps to give added flavour.

I doubled the recipe because I had 100g of brie to use up. Topped up with 80g of vintage tasty and 20g of Parmesan. I also added the tbsp of Dijon mustard and omitted the nutmeg. I didn't need any seasoning and I used the lot over a cauliflower cheese. Definitely using this one again.

Googled Cheese sauce and found this recipe. It looked terrific and easy. I halved the ingredients. Left out Tasty cheese and added 1 TBS of dijon Mustard , didnt have Plain flour so used Corn Flour. It said use immediately, but I couldnt, so added a tad more milk and temp about 60 degrees for a couple of minutes OMG it was awesome. Partner must have complimented me 1 dozen times. Thanks for the receipe even though I changed it a bit. 🙂

Would this go well with steamed peas corn, canned tuna and cooked pasta? Kind of like a mornay sauce? TIA xo

This turned out beautifully - and so easy just to pour straight from the jug over the lasagna. Thank you! 🙂
ThermoPixie says
This looks incredible! Is the consistency suitable for mac cheese, or would you thin/thicken it?
Lauren Matheson says
thanks so much! I use it to top lasagna so I think it would be ok.It will thicken upon standing too.
ThermoPixie says
Thanks, Lauren. I might have to give it a bash and let you know. 😉

Can this recipe be made ahead to save time at a dinner party? I note it says to serve immediately. I have an old recipe which includes blue cheese and white wine. Thank you.
Lauren says
I always try and serve it immediately as it can develop a 'skin' if you let it sit out. You could certainly try making it in advance, however I think it would need a good mix prior to serving.
Denise Morton says
Could you please clarify the flour measurement please. TIA
Lauren says
Hi Denise, It's 15g of plain flour or 2 tablespoons 🙂
